Fiberpipe & Me: First to Webcast Professional Basketball

In fall of 2003 I met with Ken Birch and Doug Chapman at Fiberpipe to explore webcasting of Idaho Stampede basketball. Later that year we had our first webcast, and then continued working together in early 2004. By the 2004-05 season we put together a full season deal.

The Idaho Stampede was the first professional basketball team in the world to webcast all of its home games live and make them available free of charge, both live and on-demand.

Yes, I did that.

The CBA league office got so excited about what we were doing at the Stampede they hired Fiberpipe to do the league all star game. Fiberpipe was working with BSU football prior to our partnership, and have since branched into baseball, BSU hoop, and many other things (including BK football). I always enjoy working with Ken and Doug. They do whatever it takes to get the job done, and done well. Here’s a news release that mentions the 2003 game when we initiated Idaho Stampede basketball with Fiberpipe.
